Hilma af Klint

These three books arrived just before I got sick and so I had plenty to read while being in bed.

Hilma af Klint was a Swedish painter who lived from 1862 til 1944 and I find her work and the life fascinating. Hilma was an abstract painter and actually painting abstracts years before Wassily Kandinsky and Piet Mondriaan. The reason that she isn't credited for this is the remark Rudolph Steiner made when he saw the paintings. Hilma decided that the world wasn't ready for her work. In her will she wrote down that all the paintings had to be stored for 30 years after her dead. Unfortunately it took even longer, in 1984, before her work could be admired by a large audience.

Over the years I read and wrote about her work. Simply love the way she uses and combines colour and the different shapes that are repeated throughout her work and that's the reason why I had to tell you about her again.

Have a lovely day and I hope you check out the different links so will be drawn into her world too.
