A new beginning

Got myself  A3 unbleached paper. It is the same as the white paper I normally work on, so in that aspect not different, although it does give a different outcome. I'm thinking overlays with this paper at the moment, we'll see how it progresses.

Besides working with the unbleached paper I also pinpricked out the middle of a number these pølsebakken. Two are already embroidered.

This technique I already used twice before, no. 1 and no. 2. The difference is the shape of the background and how that influences the outcome.

This technique to mimick a corset was also used on a paper plate but as it turns out I only shared that with the Private Embroidery group on Flickr. I wished I could buy sheets of this paper plate paper. What would be the name in the shop? No idea but I do know that I love to embroider on it!

Have a great weekend.

One final post about the exhibition

Approaching the exhibition I thought I was well prepared but despite that thought I had a very busy week leading up to the exhibition.

Luckily I got my table from the attic on monday just to see how things would look combined. I realized it needed some colour and blue was the very obvious choice. And since I just had learned about the Belle point de Venise cinq point I decided to use that stitch. Not the most easiest of stitches with two strands of embroidery floss, still I managed.

And this beautiful picture of Julie shows the end result. I really loved my two tables, one with a visual dinner to sit around and one take-away dinner.

Participating in this exhibition was a lovely journey of learning. Building an installation in a sporthal is different than making one for myself in the garden, different but just as enjoyable.

Enjoy your wednesday.

Stitched at the exhibition

During the exhibition I had a few hours to do some stitching and therefore I decided to try the new stitch Belle point de Venise cinq point around a plate. When I came full circle I liked the idea but really also needed to find out how it would work with the borders I created on the plates previously.

The Belle point de Venise cinq point has definitely an impact on the plate. Now I have to decide whether or not this is a way forward. Which might sound like an easy decision but to me it isn't since I like space in my work and this stitch closes all in but it does give a nice edge.

Decisions, decisions, there is always one to make.

Enjoy the start of your week!

A bit more about the exhibition

The week before the exhibition my eldest son asked why I used all kinds of material but never the small pieces of chainmaille that he made because he thought that would be so cool. I said I would give it a go but that they might be too heavy. In the collage above you can see the result of that experiment.

While gathering and packing all the stuff for the exhibition I came across a number of samples that never were explored further. There was still one piece of mountboard left and I laid them on it. I looked alright to me and so I decided to take it with me. My idea was to lay it flat.

When I saw the space to was assigned to me I realized I had to hang it. Luckily it was doable although the composition had to be changed. All these samples were created without thinking on how I could use them, just for the fun of it but they worked together fine.

So chainmalle added to paper is very well possible and I guess you'll be seeing more of it in the future.

Have a great weekend!

Where do I start?

The exhibition has come to an end. So many things happend but where do I start with writing it all down? The picture above is made by husband just before the exhibition opened. When I came in and saw all that space to fill I had a small panic-attack thinking I didn't have enough ... luckily I still had a lot of of stuff at home.

The rest of the pictures are made by Julie. Julie drove up to my little peninsula just to see the exhibition and I am so happy she did. It was absolutely fantastic to see her again and catch up again.

Lots of people stopped by during this 5 day Easter exhibition and they agreed all on one thing: It looked definitely different.

Love this collage of these plates. Being part of this exhibition has definitely been a interesting experience. I'm still trying to gather my thoughts so I just leave you with this blogpost but without a doubt there will be more.

Have a great week.

Gentle protest

I know, I know, it seems like video week here but I simply can't help it. I have to share this with you, it simply too important to not mention this project.

More episodes to come!

Have a great weekend!

The other day I stumbled on this idea of using driftwood to hang some knitwork. There is a lot of driftwood laying around in the house and therefore I couldn't resist to make my own little piece.

Just having fun ...

Hope you're enjoying yourself too with your projects.

Belle point de Venise cinq point

Last weekend Jennifer Collier had a picture of the Belle point de Venise cinq point on her Fb-page. It looked more than lovely and so I had to find out how to do that. Googled extensively but couldn't find a good instruction, an instruction I could read. Therefore I called out to Deanna because Deanna's knowledge is huge and she also makes lace. Deanna went out hunting for information but in the meantime Jennifer came to the rescue and made a small video.

Since information was so hard to find I decided to make a little video too and put it on YouTube so everyone can benefit.

Happy stitching and sharing!

Pouring into bowls

Last week I showed you two similar watercolour paintings. This time the word connection is poured into a bowl. Since I didn't like the black outlining in the previous one's I decided not to outline these two. The consequence is that the pencil lines remain visible but that can't be helped.

I really enjoyed making this small series and I might continue working on it when a new idea for a small but significant chance pops into my head.

Enjoy your day!

A post filled with video's

Today I have a number of video's for you. I saw them earlier this week and since they gave me stuff to think about, I want to share them with you.

These three video's come from this article.

and I never mind hearing Elizabeth's five cents .. :-)

and the last video of today is the longest but Malcolm does need to have his say too!

Have a great start of your week!
