New piece for the Focus-serie

Last week I told you about a new piece I'm making for the exhibition. The blue part is now ready as you can see in the pictures. It worked out wonderful and so now I continue stitching the white part for this piece.

Have a great start of your week.

Last night I saw a very interesting BBC documentary called The story of women and art. I found it very inspirational on several levels and therefore I had to write a small post to make sure that you heard about it and that I remember what I learned.

In the second video is some beautiful embroidery. Hope you'll take the time to watch this documentary.

Enjoy your sunday.

A very generous gift

This week the mailman stopped by and delivered a box with all kinds of goodies. In the picture above you can see a part of the content, you don't want to know about the yummy chocolates or do you? The sketchbook has become an instant friend.

Here you can see my first doodles and although there is still very much to be learned, I really do like them.

Enjoy the start of your weekend.

Books on my table

Found some very interesting books at the library and therefore I want to share them with you. The book from 99U is a very easy to read book with a variety of advice on planning your creative projects. Only browsed through The Craftsman, lack of time, it is more a philosophical book, bit of a heavy read but definitely interesting. And one can never flip through too many books filled with stitches and this one is definitely a good one to have on my table.

Time to get back to work .. why is there always so much to do? .. hihihi

See you.

A new piece for the Focus serie

A new piece for the Focus-serie I started during the weekend. This part is on the same paper as I used for the top of the take-away/snackboxes. The paper will be covered with all kinds of stitches. At the moment I'm about halfway of this part. I'm working really hard to get it ready since it is a rather large piece to make on "the last minute" but I really want to include it in the exhibition and so there is only one remedy: Stitch!

Hope you are enjoying yourself just as much.

Recycling project finished

Not that long ago I started the embroidery work on this bag. Today I show you the finished one.  The black strip on the bottom is where the name of the shop was. It was simply erased by cross-stitching over it with black.

This is the other side. Used the same colours but only three shades instead of five and again used to black to erase the name of the shop. Ofcourse now one can see the embroidery start and finish on the inside but I plan to ask a friend of mine to make a lining. She is very good with the sewingmachine and since time is precious these days I am gonna outsource that part of the project. And give her the bag which she can use in anyway she fancies.

Enjoy yourself!

Yes, I am totally over the moon

I just finished my snackboxes for the exhibition and I am totally over the moon. They look great and I can hardly believe that I came up with this idea and made it to the finish line.

Happy day!

Outlander ledger

After writing my monday blogpost this morning I couldn't resist making a video of this journey I made based on a picture of a tartan. There is no need to explain things further since you were following this project all along.

Just enjoy!

Ledger work

Since the Outlander ledger still has a few pages I started to explore meetingpoints and connections between people. I continued to use the blue and brown because I really like how these two colours work together.

This knot is called the Josephine knot. When I saw it all I could think about was the word meetingplace and therefore I renamed it; the meetingplace knot.

After the renaming and  the connection with the Outlander story I searched the net for a wedding knot. Found this one and ofcourse I had to make this one too. :-) Both knots are made with my snoregaffel or lucet as you probably call it.

Hope you're having a wonderful start of your week.

At the moment I'm falling a bit behind on keeping this blog going. There is enough happening and so a big update. There are a number of books on my table  each with their own charm which give me enough to read and to think about.

The recycling project that I started just over a week ago is coming along very nicely and probably will be done soon.

And I worked on my Take-away boxes for the exhibition. In the picture you see the background on which the plates will be attached. The bottom of the five boxes are also ready and three of the tops. This means that by the end of next week that part of the exhibition also will be ready.

Time to wish you the most wonderful weekend with or without snow.

Walk through walls

My weekend was largely spent with Marina. Picked this biography up on friday afternoon and late sunday afternoon I finished reading it. Great read about the life of a performance artist.

And now it is time to spend time with my needle again.

Have a great start of your week.

A new recycling project

A little whimisical and very lovely project. Yes, I intend to embellish this little shopping bag. Why? Well it is a lovely bag, at the same time there is some advertisement on it. Do I want that? No and therefore this bag is undergoing a transformation.

Simply stitching for my heart's content.

Enjoy the start of your weekend!

John Berger

John Berger died at the start of this New Year. As a tribute I want to share a very long conversation he had with Michael Silverblatt.

I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do.

The start of 2017

Happy 2017 and I hope you had a grand start of this year. This doodle is me while being totally tired while a storm of feelings won't stop whirling around. Do like the colours!

Hope to see you soon again.
