Doodles on monday

It's monday again, time to start this week. In today's doodles a sketch of a new project including annotations to make sure I remember what I thought at the start of the project. I have a change of heart fairly often and it is always fun to see how things evolve.

Enjoy your fresh new week.

French knot doodle

The last few days I filled this doodle with french knots. Always have to do a little project when I get home again, just to find my own footing. What better way than doing french knots on paper?

Have a great, creative weekend and I'll be back on monday.

A new treasure

My new treasure is a 60 cm long wooden ruler and I'm so happy with it. It was rescued in a thriftshop and it has this lovely curve which without a doubt comes in handy some day. I love to bring home souvenirs like this.

Enjoy your wednesday.

Doodles on monday

Glad to be back in town. You didn't notice it but I was gone for a week and I'm so happy to be back and to get started again. These doodles I made just before I left, liked using the grid on the paper.

Have a fabulous start of your week.

Ode to Hilma af Klint

A few weeks ago I told you about my latest fascination, Hilma af Klint. As you can see I couldn't  resist the tempation to study her work more closely and put my own twist on it.

My painting skills are in a big need of a brush up and there are some other details that shouldn't be like they turned out but I am happy with the overall result. Simply because as an experiment, a sample, it works totally for me and it gives me enough ideas to move forward.

Let's see where this road leads me.

Cross-stitch

The other day I felt like doing some cross-stitch on cloth and this small sample satisfied my need. Stitching on cloth is different from stitching on paper. Each have their own demands and lovelyness. Did totally enjoy making this after working with paper already for so long.

Hope you are enjoy your autumn holiday too.

Doodles on monday

These are some of the doodles I made the other day. So many doodles end up in just another file which is a shame because they are lovely and they do fuel my creative process.

Time to wish you a week filled with inspiration.

Installation Focus

For a long time the girls in class encouraged me to make an installation with my paper plates. I never said yes or no to it but I had hoped to surprise them with a video of it.

And so finally the day arrived where there was no wind or so I thought.

Very excited I started to collect all the goodies and display them on the terrace. But as you probably know, paper plates don't have much weight and therefore some whispers of wind made it impossible to make a video. Simple because there was too much movement of the plates, they didn't want to hang still. I was very disappointed and therefore I stored the pictures in the archive.

The other day I came across them and realized that I did my best and the pictures were still valid. In this last picture you can see the installation or at least a large part of it.

Hope you enjoyed it despite the fact that there isn't a video.

Have a grand weekend and I'll see you soon.

The fourth page without a twist

The fourth poster for the Easter exhibition is only enlarged. The poem and the pinprick technique are the same. The orginal page in my book doesn't have a backing and this one has a white one, simple as a precaution since pinpricked paper is very fragile.

This leaves me with one more page to go and finally I have the feeling I'm making progress with the preparations. Time to get back to work.

Have a great day with your creative work.

A new sample

Last wednesday I showed you this sample and this is the follow up on it. This time a very long cord was made with the snoregaffel. When the cord was finished, I acted as if the cord was a thread and used the snoregaffel for the second time. Since I wanted to have a circle I bound the ends together.

The background is a pinpricked and painted part of a paper plate and like the first sample I used wallpaper for embellishment. The french knots are made of the same thread as the circle. Although it doesn't really charms me a the moment it is a valid sample and therefore I share it with you.

Have a fabulous start of your week.

A new sample

Today I reveal to you my latest adventure. Yes, I can be adventureous at times. What is the adventure? I used wallpaper in my sample.

Made three cords with my snoregaffel and plaited them. Ripped a piece of wallpaper and folded it around the plaited cord, ripped a bit more because I wanted to see the work I put in the plaited cord. With some bullion knots and running stitch I fastened it on a white sheet of paper and a new sample was born and I like my new baby.

Hope you're have fun too.

Third page in a twist finished

Despite the fact that I made 6 hankies with a knot only one is used in the final piece. Did a lot of playing around with them but nothing felt right. Even the buttons I made couldn't charm me. Therefore I used the handmade buttons with fabric and placed them in a pinpricked circle. Still not sure if I should add something else. What bugs me is that I don't have the word memories in it, like in the original page. Oh well I can always come back later to it and have a fresh look at it.

Time to start this monday morning ... have a great week!
