A peek on my table

Painting watercolour paper. The one on top will be used to pinpricked the word Focus. A small part of preparation for the exhibition next year. Had so much fun painting that I took another shade of blue and this piece is now added on the pile of stuff to play with.

On fleamarkets there are often books for sale and I always browse around to find some which can be used for inspiration. In my little Flow journals I collect images from the books, a lovely way to spend time either making or browsing through.

Enjoy your tuesday.

Monday's music

A blast from the past of which I was reminded while thinking about a new idea for a piece of work. Haven't decided on making it but I don't mind listening to this song one more time.

Have a fabulous monday filled with sunshine.

New page for Nordals

As I already told you a few days ago pinpricking was on my mind last week. This is another piece that is now ready. The town is called Augustenhof and this was the first town we visited when we were planning to move to Denmark just over ten years ago.

Have a fabulous start of your weekend.

A new paperplate

Since I only use the circle I pinpricked out of the plate I'm left with the borders. One of them I used to make another plate inspired by the work of Sheila Hicks. The first plate you can see here.

Making this plate was more difficult because I really had to watch the tension in the thread. If I didn't the shape of the plate altered a bit which was something I didn't want ofcourse.
Really happy with the end result.

Have a lovely day.

Working hard

This might be the most boring post I ever wrote and still I'm writing it. Why? Because the last few days I have been working really hard, lots and lots of hours of pinpricking. So far I have pinpricked 14 large plates. No stitching, just pricking.

Here you can see my stack of pricked plates. Why all this? Because I want to make at least 7 of these.

It is a good thing I love these circles so much otherwise I might going nuts ... or maybe I am already?

Have a fantastic day with your own obsessions.

A new road

Making this box with a pinpricked and embroidered spoon has been a slow process with a number of trials and errors but I do so like the end result. Instead of signing it I pinpricked my name in the cover together with 2016. I planned this as a gift and as usual now I have to think about it because I love it so much. What else is new?

Have a fabulous weekend!

Nordals

Three new items for the Nordals book ready and also photographed on a map of my part of the isle. Behind Egen I put a picture of the church in Egen. The hexagon for Pøl is pinpricked in such a way that it looks like a cube. The last one is for Svenstrup. Svenstrup just won the yearly award for best countryvillage in Denmark. Since the people of Svenstrup are very socially active in all kinds of local groups I decided to add my symbol for connection in pinprick.

Have a wonderful thursday.

Nordals

The page for the village of Elstrup is ready. Have done these circles of bullion knots on paper before, the strange thing is that again I love some details but have a hard time liking the whole. Maybe it is the composition or maybe I simply get overwhelmed by all these bullion knots. Anyway, you can see the end result in the photograph below.

Have a wonderful wednesday!

Back to the Nordals-project

One page for the Nordals book is finished. The overlay waited patiently until I finally made a picture of the church in Kirkeby. When translating Kirkeby it says Churchcity in English although it is a small village and it is therefore that I wanted to add a photograph of the church to the page. Behind each letter is the same picture only a smaller size.

One town lives on a page now, 24 still to go.

Have a great weekend!

Totally excited

Yesterday I showed you the piece I was working on and I have been working really hard to get it finished simply because I was so excited to find out if I could make it. The 7-generation principle in or should I say on plates? The one on the top is totally filled with french knots while the one on the bottom is empty. They are connected by bullion knots which you can see in the picture below.

So totally excited .. no sensible words come to mind.

Have a wonderful day!

Getting my Focus back

In the back of my mind there was still a piece lingering for the Focus-serie and when I got back from home I couldn't resist making a start. As you can see in the pictures it involves lots and lots of french knots.

Class has started again and therefore the timing is all wrong but I seem to have that habit. Each time I have the best of intentions to work together with everyone in class but it never seems to happen. I always have to gallop into a different direction at least for awhile despite the fact that I really do enjoy being a part of it. So I'm running amok with my french knots again.

Have yourself a grand day with or without french knots.

Utopia Parkway

Last week we went away for a few days simply because we had a four day weekend and spring in Denmark started at last. It was totally magical to be out and about without wearing a coat and scarf, to see blue skies all day long and to sit outside with a cup of tea and a book upon returning after a long walk. Finished two books, one from Elizabeth Gilbert, The signature of all things and a biography of Joseph Cornell called Utopia Parkway, the street where he lived most of his live, by Deborah Solomon. The latter I found totally fascinating due to the contradictions and the way his life unfolded.

Time to unfold my life a little bit more.

Have a beautiful day!

A jug with seeds of hope

A few weeks ago I wrote about Joseph Cornell and today I show you my first attempt to make a box-like item. A painted and embroidered jug that pours seeds of hope is in the box. It is made on paper, painted the jug before I embellished it with a running stitch. The seeds of hope are a combination of stemstitch, bullion- and french knots with a single lightblue bead on top.

Have a wonderful weekend .. enjoy yourself!

Booklet

The other day I made a little booklet with all kinds of pictures and quotes. Really happy with it and therefore I share it with you. Sometimes things seem so in flow and this certainly was one of these evenings ..

Hope you have some nice times too.

Nordals III

This is a photograph I took while working on my page for the village of Elstrup. I have done bullion knot-circles before and still each time I'm mesmerized by them. I'm still working on this page, three circles are ready, the fourth one is well on its way and three more to go.

Enjoy yourself today!

Anna Berger & Ruth Phipps

When I saw this video of Anna Bjerger last week I asked myself the question: If I was a painter what would I like to paint? The immediate answer was cloth, no single moment of doubt because for years I collected, and still do, cards and prints of cloth and their movement. This made me visit Miss Google again and I landed on the blog of Ruth Phipps and fell in love with her work.

Will I become a painter?  Doubt it but it is lovely think about it for a little while.

Enjoy yourself today wherever your road takes you.
