I told you about the book of Louise Bourgeois and it made me want to make something, to use the inspiration it gave me. This is what I came up with and to be frank I don't know if I like it, let alone love it. But it is what it is and I can always try something else for the village of Sjellerup!
Unfortunately I can't remember how I found out about the book of Louise Bourgeois, The Fabric works but it arrived today from our fantastic national library. It is a very extensive book with lots and lots of pictures. I made some pictures and collected them in this collage for reference and idea material. I find the work of Louise very intense and at times overwhelming but I do like the books she made from fabric.
If you have a chance to order it from your library I would certainly recommand it.
Enjoy your day with the book that is waiting for you.
Now that a number of spoons are ready I decided to start with the napkins. They are made from the same paper and the stitch will also match with the spoon. Getting really excited as I see this idea grow although it still takes a few months before the first one gets to its completion.
No accidents happend and so one happy embroider can show you another version of the seven generations symbol. It is absolutely wonderful to work on it each time around. Just love how in this case the blue slowly fades into white.
Finished! The picture above is what I removed from the circle which represents the building of Linak.
And this is the end result. I'm over the moon with it. Unfortunately I don't have a good picture of Guderup in my archive to put behind it but that will be done later on. I simply couldn't wait to show you the result. So what do you think? Is it worth getting all excited about or is it just me?
Enjoy your summer day with whatever you are making.
This morning I woke up totally excited because I got an idea and could hardly wait to start making it. I already told you about the reason behind the flower I made for Lunden. In my dream I realized that there is another company called Linak and they "live" in a circular building. You might think: Wow Elizabeth, that's really wild and important to dream about. :-)
But what if I drew a circle, put the lettering of Guderup partly on the inside and partly on the outside. The inside will be removed and the outside stitched with a running stitch. Can hardly wait to see the result, it might look fabulous.
Have a great day and I hope you're just as excited about your project.
Although I only work every now and than on this project it keeps my mind very busy to come up with a different way of using lettering each time around. This time it is the village Lunden that got my attention. I chose a flower for Lunden because Lunden is the home of Danfoss. Danfoss started in Nordborg in1933 and became quickly the economic heart of Nordals, it made Nordals blossom.
Hope you like this little flower. Have a grand weekend.
