Doodly Do

At Fast Company they also like to Doodly Do and without a doubt I will come across more articles or video's which I will add later.

This post was about doodling as a reminder and encouragement to keep doing it.

Have a lovely day and hopefully some moments of doodling.

A new disorder

Unfortunately I have to report that I got myself a new disorder, it is called pleating mania. It started with a chainstitch but fairly soon I switched to a little cross stitch and now I embroider little cross stitches until my need is satisfied. Made already a number of panels and slowly the realization has sunken in that I have to do something with them.

To add a bit of texture and variation I opted for a baby blue cotton diaper. A new one, don't worry and now I run my stitches along. The idea is to stitch the panels together, well it is an idea, so let's see what happens.

Besides swinging my needle I'm also very busy to get the garden back in shape after this stormy winter. You won't believe the amount of debris that landed here, oh well it keeps me busy and off the street which means I won't run into any problems any time soon.

Hope you'll have a lovely start of your spring too.

One can be sooooo lucky

Sometimes asking about a certain fabric means that our bare legged mailman stops by. That's what happend this time and I'm totally in love with my gorgeous red squares. Now my brain is doing overtime to think of some fabulous project in which I can use this gorgeousness. Thanks Karen, you're a gem in so many ways.

Have a great day with the sun out and about ... Spring is definitely in the air.

Another connection

Yes, another connection is born. Last night I pinpricked the symbol into the paper and made a few bullion knots to see if it could work. I felt so good about the paperwork, which I showed you yesterday, that I couldn't wait any longer. This morning it was just full steam ahead and I did it. 93 bullion knots made in blue blomstergarn are now living on paper.

While making the bullion knots I realized that this could also be a quadrant or a map for a small harbour but for me it is all about connection. There are bullion knots flat on the paper and others are standing up proud. The thought behind that idea is that if one has a lot of bullion knots standing up it would be easier for others to connect to that person.

Can you tell I'm totally excited and happy? ... hihi

Hope your day is just as forfilling as mine is.

Practicing web stitches

If one doesn't have a clue of what to do but wants really badly to swing her needle, one can practice a stitch. This time I chose the web stitch and since I like this little illustruation so much I decided to make a leafy tree. The biggest one is over two centimeters, the smallest one isn't a half a centimeter but has only four legs instead of eight. All in all a fun embroidery doodle which could be used for a Christmas card or not ...

Hope you have fun with your projects.

Some new pages

The first connection symbol was made in 2012, in the meantime the total has come to five pieces in which this symbol plays a huge part. In the class with Karen the words hexagon, cross stitch and bullion knots are flying around a lot. Last sunday when I woke up I wanted to try to see how I could combine these words. The first photo in the collage is a reference to earlier work. In the second photo I made a double connection drawing and added some hexagons which can be folded open. The next picture is also from my stash folder, the embroidery mimicks a part from the rockcarving found in Sweden. The embroidery sample became an envelope for two small doodle drawings.

The squares symbolises windows of opportunity, the tab became a bridge filled with seeds of hope from a dandelion since spring is just around the corner. Next picture more seeds and open windows with a small part of a doodle, one is drawn in black, the other one in pencil. And ofcourse the doodle is the connection symbol.

It is so difficult not to jump in and start swinging my needle but I feel I first have to close some gaps before I jump in. In other words, this story will be continued.

Have a fabulous wednesday, enjoy yourself.

New addition

This page in a collage above is actually a fun one for me. In the class with Karen we discussed string art, my result an embroidery compass. With one of the ladies I had an discussion about babysteps and you know me. Yep, a drawing of a foot was made, cut in half, one side remained a drawing the other half was pinpricked and for some unknown reason I was thinking about a book called Solo, therefore this word was incorporated.

These two pieces were made weeks apart and stashed away in a folder. Next stage came when playing with maps. Why not put the compass on a map in my samplebook? So thought, so done. The map however was a lot bigger than the book page. Started playing around with it and before I knew it I made a journey by myself in babysteps but with a compass at hand.

And this is the story behind the collage above.

Enjoy your wednesday.
