Have I told you .... VI

Have I told you .... by Landanna

Only some finishing touches remained to be done but it took me forever to do them. Finally I got up the courage and finish this textile painting. I felt very nervous about nailing it on the canvas because would everything turn out the way I envisioned. Lucky me, it did and now I'm very happy with the result.

Do you have the same kind of resistance to finish a project? Or do you have a special strategy to face that obstacle?

Hope your projects are well on their way too.

Blue and red II

Blue and red by Landanna

Last sunday I showed you the start of this new project in a collage and today I have already the second one. The work is done in the same order as the previous one and so the border is attached together with the special items which are at times on the denims. Time to find some extra pockets to embroider on, in the meantime I have to think about the other extra pieces of embellishments I want to attach.

Hope you are enjoying yourself just as much with your own projects.

Have fun today.

Monday's music

Today I have a very special edition of Monday's music since it is inspired by a conversation I had last friday with one of my blogosphere-friends. The conversation is still in the back of my mind since it contained a personal lesson for me for which I'm grateful. The lyrics of this song are written by a poet called Thomas Hood who lived from 1799 - 1845.

In remembrance of Sunshine's dad.

Have a great start of your week.

Red and blue

Red and blue by Landanna

As you can see in the picture I started a new project. Another little blanket made of old pairs of denims and this time the background will be red. I found this large piece of thick cotton at the thriftshop and new immediately that I had to have it to back my new baby blue. Since the picture I already made great progress again so hopefully I will get to show you an overview of it really soon. Until than I wish you a lovely sunday.

Have I told you .... V

Have I told you .... by Landanna

A week ago I showed you this symbol already. Now the text around is done. I took a canvas and put a flanel layer around it and on top of it I put this painting which is embroidered on an old shirt. The flanel gives a soft look/feel to the painting, just the way I wanted it. The large piece of this serie is also ready, the only thing that still needs to be done is the putting on the canvas part. Maybe I'll get it done this week. The days seem so short, want to do so much and nothing happens, you know that feeling, right?!

Time to start working again.

Enjoy yourself and please share some of your projects!

A garden of friends

a haven for sharing
the trust, the helping hand
the shelter for rainy days
a source of strength
like a lighthouse to beam the kindness of within
a place to grow
toward a world for you and me

Monday's music

Today I have two songs for you. One that I have been wanting to post for some weeks but each time I decided against it because another one was more appropriate. Since it dawned on me there isn't gonna be a perfect time for this old song, I'll post it today. It is a song by Johnny Cash and June Carter called Help me make it through the night, like the video a lot, if you decide to watch it, you'll get!

The second song is one from Blake Shelton called God gave me you. About two weeks ago I heard it for the first time on my internetradio and it keeps turning up, so this is one I pass on to you, let me know what you think of it.

Have a great start of your week, enjoy yourself!

Have I told you .... IV

While I was thinking about how to proceed with Have I told you .... I still wanted to hold my needle and so I created a little in-between project with the same theme but just with another symbol. And what better to choose than one of my favorites. You have seen it in paper with a french knotstitch, in Soul Food, even in my very first post. This time the symbol  is made in bullion knots since energy is always whirling around us, at times it clusters together and gives us these special messages.

In the collage you can see how I proceeded. The pictures are all taken late in the evening and therefore not the best quality but since this piece isn't ready yet, they are just update pictures. I promise when it is finished I will take pictures with daylight on a sunny day.

Have a great day while working on your own projects.

Monday's music

The title of the song today is Standing at the crossroads again, I thought it was a very appropriate title for a song to start 2013 with. The song played by numerous people, Eric Clapton, Dave Edmunds, Elmore James, Ten Years After with Alvin Lee and Mickey Jupp. I chose the version of Mickey since finding his music last year was one which filled me with joy.

Have a great start of your week.

Lucky girl

Besides giving away special made gifts, I also have been very lucky in receiving some of the sweetest kindness I can think of and I'm very grateful for each token. I received gorgeous christmas cards, the kindest mails, generous gifts but most of all I got to see your warm and open hearts and that's the biggest gift anyone can get. Thank you all for your amazing friendship.

Another clothposter

Like yesterday another catch up post and this one has been in the waiting for a long time. I started thinking about this project somewhere in september and the embroidery during our autumn holiday. Yes that's a long time ago, I know but time was needed to make it without that it would be noticed by my dear friend Anneli since I wanted it to be a surprise. Anneli and I write each other just about every day and she always encourages me to simply be my creative self. Therefore I decided she deserved a special gift for christmas and I made this clothposter as a thank you-note. On the clothposter you can read words which appear often in our conversations, embroidered in the colours of her beloved sock yarn.

So my dear Anneli, thank you for all your encouragements and kind friendship. The 2013 has started, new projects await us and without a doubt ideas will be shared, blogposts discussed, movies and music will be written down together with lots of sweet dreams, I'm looking forward to it.

Open heart

A new year has started, hope you all had a wonderful time during the holidays and a great start of 2013. Since my blogwriting has been a bit sparse in the last month of 2012 I thought it is time to catch up again.

In the blogposts for the serie Have I told you .... I talked already a bit about living with an open heart. This subject is one that often stops by in the mails which fly between Oregon and Denmark and give me a lot to think about. If you are a regular reader you know that I ponder best when I hold my needle and so christmas ornaments were made in a little denim-project. The result you can see below.

Happy 2013, a new year filled with new projects, pictures and blogposts to inspire each other.
