Clearing my head

Today was a day to forget as soon as possible. Why? I woke up with a splitting headache which made me nauseous and therefore I spent most of my time in bed. Still after dinner I decided to go for a stroll just outside of town. The sun played hide and seek while the wind touched my face gently. Fresh air and the quiet countryside with some lovely views lifted my spirits and cleared my head.

Tomorrow will, hopefully, be another day filled with some new adventures.

Sleeping outside

During the long Pinse-weekend our small tents we taken from the loft and put outside. They were packed away several years ago due to the fact that we bought a large tent. To see these two little sweethearts made me happy and when my two boys asked if we could sleep outside I jumped at the chance. Why? I love to sleep outdoors. Normally I only get the chance during the annual campingtrip or on a lazy sunny sundayafternoon, when I get the chance to conquer the hammock first.

By the time I had to find my sleeping-bag I was just so excited that I couldn't fall asleep. The birds had already found their nests and were silent but the scent of the lilacs was still lingering around. Our neighbourhood has a lot of lilac-trees and therefore the perfum of the lilacs was still present. While I lay bundled up in the sleeping-bag I thought of the people with whom I shared this love of sleeping outside, of the hedgehog that hid himself under my pillow, the musquitoes and the fresh air.

Around 4.30 am I had to visit the bathroom. Normally I'm annoyed by this but not this time. Silently I left my little nest, crawled out of the tent. I heard the birds singing and already being busy to feed their offspring. It was a magical clear morning and it was gonna be a sunny day again. I did return to my nest just to enjoy myself a little bit more. Just grateful for another night under the Danish skies.

An awesome day

Had an awesome blue day at Arnkil. Lots of blue, lots of boats, lots of shells and an abundance of sunshine. Hope you enjoyed yourself just as much.

And tonight will be the first night I will be sleeping outside!!!! Looking forward to it.

Over ten years I ago I read an article of Daniel Pink called School's out. I really like the article and if I would have gotten one euro for each time I mentioned this article to someone, I would have saved up for a really nice holiday!

Last night after I got back from taekwondo-training I didn't feel like doing anything anymore. This means Tedtalks-time for me and I found this one.

Since I had the same reaction as to the article I'm saving myself some time and put the video on my blog and anyone who is interested can watch it and email me!!!!

Enjoy yourself.

Spring garden

A few days with sunny weather makes a big difference in the garden. Had to capture some it. A lot of flowers in the strawberry-bed, sweet peas ready to eat, some mushrooms and lilac-tree in fullbloom. The scent of the lilacs is perfect when I'm in the hammock just below them. The hammock is my favorite place in the garden. Totally shaded by the leafs of the trees, the sweet scent of the lilacs, birds being very busy feeding their offspring and me just reading and making notes for new projects.

Do you know a better way to spend your afternoon?

Rømø, been there and done this

Last weekend was a weekend which had four days. Belongings were packed and our peninsula was left behind. We drove west to visit another peninsula called Rømø.  One of the things that were packed were our cameras and you guessed it already. Today is picture day.

Rømø has very large and sandy beaches and so we took long walks along the coastline. Hard work especially since the weather was improving every day but someone had to volunteer! Made tons of pictures and therefore I choose to make a small collage and I uploaded a few on Landanna in pictures.

Have a fabulous day.

Monday's music

A sunny monday morning here on my peninsula. Just worked up some sweat in the trainingsfacility where I trained for an hour by myself and now it is time for monday's music. Today I want to share my favorite song of the latest album of Keith which is released worldwide, Get closer. The song is called Georgia Woods. The lyrics make me laugh and the guitarsolo is one sooo gorgeous. Ofcourse I had to choose a live-version!

Hope you enjoy yourself just as much as I do time and again.
Happy monday.

Handmade inspiration

Don't know about you but there are days that nothing can inspire me.  No matter how long I sit behind the computer to find that one thing I'm looking for without knowing what the thing is. Other days I just enter an inspiration party.

Just a few days ago I entered an inspiration party. I was totally blown away by the photographs, the videos and the written content. All fitted perfect together, in my opinion, and so I had to share. I shared it on FB, made a copy of some interviews and took them with me to a tea-date, sent it in numerous mails and now it is time to share it with you. Why? Because it is just FANTASTIC!

(Grain & Gram, The New Gentleman's Journal)

The name of the blog is Grain & Gram. It is not a traditional blog, it only updates every few months but that's totally fine by me. It is just about working with your hands, perfect in my opinion. The people who are interviewed are only men but hé I don't discriminate so my thumb is still up.

Besides all of this yummy stuff I also found this video about a knifemaker which is a really nice addition to the tons you can already explore.

Time to leave you alone and give you time drool, read, think, making notes for your own projects or whatever. Wouldn't it be awesome to have something like this strictly for Ladies?

Mussel time

(click on the image to enlarge)

 Breakage

I go down to the edge of the sea.
How everything shines in the morning light!
The cusp of the whelk,
the broken cupboard of the clam,
the opened, blue mussels,
moon snails, pale pink and barnacle scarred—
and nothing at all whole or shut, but tattered, split,
dropped by the gulls onto the gray rocks and all the moisture gone.
It's like a schoolhouse
of little words,
thousands of words.
First you figure out what each one means by itself,
the jingle, the periwinkle, the scallop
       full of moonlight.

Then you begin, slowly, to read the whole story.

Blue journey

Somehow I feel stagnant, can't move forward with Journey. What needs to be done isn't difficult but in reality it goes painfully slow. My travelling method is more like hiking than hopping on a plane, a country lane instead of a highway.

This morning I also made the picture below and asked myself the question: Am I spiralling up or down? Have no idea, maybe I should train my being-patient-muscle a bit more.

Enjoy your week of spring.

Monday's music

It's monday again and this time I had a hard time to decide which song to choose. First I thought about my favorite song of the album Get Closer, than some other songs asked for my attention. In the end I had a party by myself and realized that all I want is to dance. So let's Dance again.

Let us dance through this week together.

Beach time

(click on the image to enlarge)

The last few days the sun visited my small peninsula and so I got the chance to hang out on my favorite time, the beach. So many mussels shells were screaming to be photographed, the pale blue sky made me drunk. Spring is now well on its way. The cherry tree in our garden is in full-bloom and the other flowers are also  showing their beauty in abundance. It felt so good to be outside again despite the fact that I couldn't walk every path I wanted.

But you know ofcourse that all these hours playing outside means I didn't make too much progress on Journey. If the weatherman is right I will make lots of progress next week since it will be cold and rainy again.

Thanks for visiting Landanna and remember: Smile.
