Monday's music

Beggin, beggin you
Put your loving hand out baby
Beggin, beggin you
Put your loving hand out darlin

Last week I didn't sleep to well but luckily this song gave me an energy boost during the day each time I needed it.

So shake you booty and don't
make anyone beg for friendship or love

here is my hand, let's dance together.

Journey

(click on the image to enlarge)

Each journey starts with a single step, each journey influences and changes me. Since I started this project I learned a couple of things and somehow this needs to be reflected on my blog too and therefore I changed the look of my blog.

As promised I will give you an update on Journey. Unfortunately not that much has been accomplished due to out of the house-activities but in the collagepicture you can see the different stages, details of Journey and an idea how this tablecloth is gonna be.

Time to wish you a great weekend with lots of sunshine or not. Not matter keep smiling.

Egg love

Last night I read the most incredible story and fell in love with an egg. I know this sounds totally ridiculous but it is totally true. The story was written here in this newspaper. And without a second of doubt I had to visit the place called The Hemloft and read every part of the story behind the egg. Summarizing it in one word: Adventure.

Now that you have seen this gorgeous egg you do understand that I had to visit the flickr-account of Heidi and Joel too. In all my crazyness I pushed the add as contactbutton which is not something I do that often! And you know what? Within the hour they added me as a contact as well. Which is very surprising to me because despite the fact that their pictures are viewed more than 50.000 times on flickr, published in magazines and newspapers they had only 10 contacts and I became no. 11.
Co-incidently they are also my 11th contact and the number 11 has a special meaning for me. It is the date of my birth, the time I was born 23.11 hrs. My mother always said that 11 was for the crazy ones since it was the number of Carneval. Now a new crazyness is added: Egg love.

I wish you a lovely crazy day.

The journey continues

As a newly Award winner, with thanks to Elisabeth for giving this acknowledgement for my journey, I want to let you know I started travelling again. So it is time to introduce you to a new addition for the serie Something old, something new, nothing borrowed but still blue.

Well as you can see in the picture that only the fundamentals are done at the moment. In other words denims are unseamed and the fabric is cut in pieces. Maybe not the most exciting part for you girls out there but without this work there wouldn't be a new side-road. Later this week I will give you an update and than you probably will see why I had to start exploring this country lane.

Until then keep smiling.

Monday's music

Just over a week ago I came across the quote: "The people who want to stay in your life will always find a way." While pondering about this, the quote on the card, which I made for the serie Making one to see, popped into my head. I shared this at flickr and Anneli gave me a song as a reaction. A great song performed by an amazing group of singers and therefore this is the song to start the week off right.

You with the sad eyes
Don't be discouraged
Oh I realize
Its hard to take courage
In a world full of people
You can lose sight of it all
And the darkness inside you
Can make you feel so small

But I see your true colors
Shining through
I see your true colors
And that's why I love you
So don't be afraid to let them show
Your true colors
True colors are beautiful,
Like a rainbow

Show me a smile then,
Don't be unhappy, can't remember
When I last saw you laughing
If this world makes you crazy
And you've taken all you can bear
You call me up
Because you know I'll be there

And I'll see your true colors
Shining through
I see your true colors
And that's why I love you
So don't be afraid to let them show
Your true colors
True colors are beautiful,
Like a rainbow

While working in the garden during the weekend I remembered a scene from the movie Good Will Hunting, which in my eyes is just a perfect addition to this story. The quote from this movie is: "You are not perfect Sport and let me save you the suspense. This girl you met, she isn't either. But the question is: Whether or not you are perfect together. (1.53 til 2.04)

So in this world in which we all strive to be as perfect as we can, it is more than allright not to be perfect because you will be loved if you just show your true colors.

Have a great start of your week.

Have been thinking about making some nice smelling lavender swedish hearts for my closet and this is the first one I made. Ofcourse this little one had to be made of some denim cloth with as much shades of blue I could manage together with red thread in a buttonhole stitch. The lavender is put in a small pocket inside the heart.

Have a lovely day with your heart filled with a smile.

Monday's music

Last night, while I was contemplating which song would accompany us at the start of a new week, I had a hard time deciding. Travelled through music-land, visited Led Zeppelin, The Bills, The Judds, Cher, music connected to movies and Lake of Tears. All of them are more or less connected to this picture.

In the end I decided that Lifehouse with their song "By your side" would be the perfect start since we are at each others side right now.

Have a fabulous monday.

Something old, something new, nothing borrowed but still blue (8)

Today I finally sat down and finished the denim apron. It is made from one pair of jeans, the backing is an old tablecloth. In the picture below you can see some of the details.

Since it was a well worn piece of clothing the fabric is very soft and feels wonderful. I was very lucky to find this pair of jeans because of the special details. The four large pockets, the extra fabric inside the pockets, the extra button besides the zipper and the fact that the fabric is very faded. All of this adds to the beauty in the details.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Something old, something new, nothing borrowed but still blue (7)

Although the larger part of my denim project is finished I still feel the need to extend this project with some smaller items. At the local thriftstore I found a pair of jeans that made me think of an apron for a chef in the week before our holiday.

What is so special about this pair of jeans is that it has four very large pockets and it has gorgeous shades of blue.

While sitting in the sun unseaming I thought of the challenge to make this item out of one pair of denims. And since I almost finished the apron I can tell you that I succeeded in doing that, almost.

Time to start stitching the final part.

Enjoy your wednesday.

Update

Yesterday I told you already that I spent the Easter holiday in the Netherlands. Unfortunately it was a cold, wet week and therefore not much opportunity to be out and about. Still some pictures I would like to share with you.

One of the large trees to be found in a small village called Helenaveen.

Some reflections in the water of the peat area in Helenaveen.

A sign of spring that caught my eye while taking a walk totally bundled up to keep warm.

A fascinating new building called the Blob in my hometown with a new and very large bookstore!

And since it was Easter asparagus were found on my plate.

Hope you had a lovely time too with the Easter bunny.
A new week has started, time to start travelling again.

Monday's music

Another week has passed and again the calendar is telling me that monday is here again. Last week I travelled to the Netherlands and while there I had an amazing time at my friends place. Most of our memories involve music since that is a passion shared and for the first time I visited their music studio. Building a studio was a major wish on their wishlist and last year it became reality. In the studio we made some music, sang some songs and shared our latest favorites. The video of today is one of Gerola's favorites.

Bedankt Gerola.

Have a great start of your week.

Monday's music

At the concert of The Boss last week my favorite song of Bruce Springsteen wasn't played. Therefore I decided to play it for you today.

Have a peaceful start of your week.
