Meeting my new friend

The last few days I have been very busy to unseam pairs of denims. Still, a number of them are waiting for my attention. Two new ideas are lingering around in my mind and while unseaming I have all the time in the world to think about them.

Besides hanging out on the beach I also visited an crafts-exhibition during the weekend. There I found my new best teafriend, she keeps me company during all  my waking hours. My amazing blue friend is made by Elke Christensen, a local ceramist who lives in Aabenraa.

I will disappear for a few days from the net since there isn't much to tell about unseaming but as soon as the stitchingprocess start I will be back.

Until then enjoy yourself with your creative projects.

Have fun today.

Monday's music

A few weeks ago I saw a poster at the school of my boys which told me that The Boss was coming to town. For me The Boss is Bruce Springsteen, he wasn't coming but some talented guys did. So today a special tribute to the guys who made me dance and sing all saturdaynight at their gig in the castle near the lake.

Thanks guys, I had a great time.

Something old, something new, nothing borrowed but still blue (6)

The first post about this serie was written on the 11th of January and now two and a half months later I can say: The folded quilt is ready! More than ten pairs of jeans were used, it has nineteen pockets and measures 2.25 X 2.35 mtrs and is named Connection. In the video you can also see Heartsong, Roads and Crossing, the pillows made with denim since they are a part of the serie Something old, something new, nothing borrowed but still blue.

Have a fabulous weekend with lots of spring sunshine and a gorgeous blue sky.

This video is uploaded for my German friends who are not allowed to see it with music.
Thanks Thoma, have a great weekend.

Roads

Last tuesday I told you about the thriftstore find, which I rescued during the weekend. While I was looking at the embroidery it looked like roads that cross. to me. A pair of jeans with two large seams came to mind, perfect to symbolish roads especially together with the embroidery.

Somehow the serie of Something old, something new, nothing borrowed but still blue reminds me of Soul Food. Do you feel the same?

Have a splendid day of spring, the sun is shining!

Something old, something new, nothing borrowed but still blue (5)

Can you hear the trumpets? Yes, the denim quilt is finished. At the moment I'm making pictures and pictures and a few more pictures to capture all the special details, the softness of the worn jeans and so many shades of indigo that I'm getting giddy.

The sun is shining, my quilt is finished and spring has started. What more could I wish for?

Have a fantastic day.

A thriftstore find

The other day I was at the thriftstore, something I do a lot these days to find some interesting pair of denims, and there I found this. An unfinished tablecloth, it was embroidered so beautifully and it felt wrong to be discarded just like that. The woman of the store asked: Do you want to finish it? Nope but it could very well become an embellishment for a jeans pillow.

And so I bought it, washed it and last night I started to make another pillow since I can't work on my big quilt during the evening.

The large folded denim quilt will be ready very soon and than I can finally show you how big and beautiful it has become.

Enjoy your day.

Hope and Dreams (5)

In Poetry in blue I promised to tell you all about this piece and earlier this week I showed you the pictures in this collage.  I have to admit this is not way I'm gonna use Hope and dreams, as you might have guessed because of the name. The inspiration for this piece came from the work of two special ladies. The first one is ms Karen Ruane, who makes the most exquiste pockets in her very special pieces. The second lady is the one and only Julie, who on the 9th of September 2009 wrote for the first time line: Writing is the new praying.

Hope and dreams will be used as a throw while I'm in my favorite chair jotting down ideas, writing down thoughts and some magic might happen when I slip a note into one of the special pockets.

“Somewhere over the rainbow,
skies are blue, and the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true”

 Lyman Frank Baum

Have a great weekend forfilling all your own dreams.

Hope and Dreams (4)

Today's post is about the fruits of unseaming. In Celebrating my love for blue I already showed you some of the gifts. The holes made by the previous threads are still visible. Unseaming is like digging deep in and revealing the beauty of what once was.

What kind of excavation would you like to be on?

Hope and Dreams (3)

(click on the image to enlarge)

The collage of today shows you some special features. The top picture on the left shows you a part of the back. On the waistband of the Levi's with the red button was a pocket, which I used to write on my initials, here you can also see the fantastic red lining of that waistband too. The rest of the pictures more or less speak for themselves.

Have a wonderful day filled with beautiful details.

Hope and Dreams (2)

(click on the image to enlarge)

In the collage you can see that not a single part of a denim is wasted. These four waist bands together are the border of Hope and dreams. My favorite button is the red one of an old pair of Levi's.

What is yours?

Monday's music

Just realized it is monday already again and I haven't had a chance to think about the music to start our week with. Well how about the music from Sean and John. Some months ago they sent me some of their  music and I was taken by it right away. The video for today is their latest song.

Have the best start of your week with some good friends.

Got a surprise

Last week I showed you the video of the antique indigo sakiori. As you can understand my curiosity wasn't satisfied right away and as a result I had to click around in our virtual world. One can travel very fast from one place to the next one, as you all know. While on my journey I made a stop-over to see these two video's and besides the history on the boro I also got a little surprise.

Hope you enjoyed yourself and that you got a little smile too around your lips when you saw the surprise.

Have a lovely day filled with butterfly smiles.
