Can you hear my heartsong?

(Click on the image to enlarge)

The rounding up needs to be done while sitting on the floor. All these pieces of jeans together are way too heavy to sit comfortable at my table. The consequence is that I can only sew during the day, during my evening hours I still unseam jeans for the borders. The picture in the centre is my view when I look up, it makes my heart sing of joy especially when the sun turns up during the greyness of February.

Still there is one problem that I haven't solved and that is the backing. I was thinking to find myself some large pieces of flanel but so far no such luck. Therefore I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a little flannel miracle.

Have a fabulous day with all that you enjoy.

Monday's music

The music selected for today is gypsy-jazz. Only a few months ago I'd never heard the term but the movie Chocolat changed all of that and a new love was found. Therefore Django Reinhardt for you today.

Enjoy yourself at the start of a whole new week, a new chance to get another dream forfilled.

Rounding up

At the moment I'm in the process of stitching these little circles on the backside.

Why? To fasten the meeting points, to join the pieces into one quilt. On the top of the quilt you will see this.

All this takes time, what else is new, therefore I leave you again but know that I'm a very busy girl.

Hope you enjoy yourself too.

Something old, something new, nothing borrowed but still blue (4)

Today another installment on my quilt project.

In the pictures you can see how I weaved the pieces of jeans into a quilt.

If I just could describe the joy I feel seeing these faded shades of blue.
Making a quilt is a childhood dream of mine and this one is just perfect, if seen through my eyes.

Hope you are getting your childhood dreams forfilled too.

Monday's music

Just a few days each year I wished I lived in my hometown again. Why? Because of the best party of the year, carnaval. Many years I have danced all night long and 'sang' until my voice totally disappeared. So many memories. Friends old and new ones. Food, the breakfast special was pommes frites with spicy peanutbutter-sauce and double mayo, yes this is totally delicous! But most of all music, the kind I only listened during the three days of carnval. As you can imagine after that I was totally exhausted afterwards!!!!

Therefore I have some dutch music for you today.

The lyrics of this song are about a horse in the hallway.

This song is about ordering drinks and getting drunk.
Not a carnaval video but I assure this song is very popular.

The lyrics are more or less on getting a partner for the night.

And dancing ofcourse, .

Sillyness, drinking, flirting and dancing are the four pillars for Carnaval!!!!

Have to tell you this story. The first time I lived in Denmark I was invited to a fastelavns party. They told me it was the danish version of carnaval. The party started and everyone sat down on a long table and there was some music but no one danced! All of a sudden this song was played. I jumped up, took my friend with me and learned him this dance. He was totally embarrassed but I didn't leave it alone. Oh no. I kept asking for this song and I got what I wanted!!!!

Have a great start of your monday and enjoy Carnaval.

Celebrating my love for blue

(click on image to enlarge it)

So far nine pairs of jeans have been separated. A number of you are already worried about my fingers, husband questions my sanity all because it takes long hours to separate the jeans. I also could cut them up and have it done in no time. Today I want to show you why separating is soooo much better than anything else. In the collage you can see some legs which are already sewed together. Later on these long pieces will be weaved into a quilt.

Hope I have convinced you if not than that is too bad since I will not discard of all this beauty to avoid some bruised fingers or the time that disappears into thin air. This is what makes me jump out of bed, this is what makes me smile and let my heart jump a little faster time after time.

Have a fabulous weekend.

Magicka

Besides working on Something old, something new, nothing borrowed but still blue I also made a fastelavn-costume for our little one with my sewing machine. Since that is more or less a miracle I thought I'd better make a post about this special event.

Magicka is a computer game he likes to play and lucky him Magicka also provided a free pattern to make this robe. So if you are in need of a costume here is your chance.

Enjoy your day with whatever project you are doing.

The beauty of the bitter cold

Winter's winds are cold
chilling to the bone
best to be inside
by fireside at home
underneath the eaves
spiderweb is spun
out of reach of rain
creature's work is done
now it's time to sleep
snug beneath the eider
and watch the silhouette
of a sugar glider

Spring is on the way
with her coloured flowers
select the brightest bunches
for the bridal bowers

This poem is written by Lee Emmett and the pictures are taken last sunday.

Have a wonderful day with warmth in your heart.

Monday's music

Another edition of Monday's music and since it is so, I am mean soooooo cold in Denmark at the moment that I decided to find some music with this theme.

Over the misty mountains cold. Oh how I love these deep voices.

A fun song by Jewel

Have a great start of your week without the sniffles.
