Carl Gustaf Bernardson

Målning av CG Bernhardson

While being in Götenborg last year I visited Bohusläns Museum and saw these gorgeous paintings of Carl Gustaf Bernardson. He lived from 1915 til 1998 and was a Swedish folkpainter. After he died his 526 paintings were given to Bohusläns Museum. Unique for his paintings is that he wrote on the backside of each painting with a pensel about the scene he had painted.

What I liked about these paintings were the subtle colors and especially how he painted the blue sky, the water and snow.

More information about his life is available but only in Swedish, here is the link and you can also see more paintings by just one click. (Scroll down and click on one of the red words.) If you have the chance to visit Bohusläns Museum I promise you, you will be surprised by their collection.

Have a beautiful day filled with inspiration.

these are wonderful paintings, I love the delicacy of them, the fragility.
