Monday's music

Most of you know that I'm also creating a project of 365 photographs, each day one picture during a year, on Flickr. Because of this I'm spending also time to look at pictures of others. Just the other day I was very lucky. Found a beautiful picture but more importantly it led me to some new music.

And what do you think?

Have a great start of your week.

On request

After my discarded helleristninger-project I had to come up with something else. All I knew was that I wanted to work with denim again. My eye saw how well used my friend was and so that was gonna be my new project. In the picture below you can see my confidant who keeps everything safe.

So Anneli, Lisa & Maggi here are some pictures of my current project. Remember it isn't finished yet but I managed to do the main part and so I feel confident enough that I can finish this project, made for my love of blue.

Thanks you all for your encouraging support.

Monday's music

This week I want to share with you the music of a special lady. For me her voice is one that live and loves, one that has seen the dark corners as well as the sunny beaches. Let me introduce ms. Bonnie Raitt with the song Feels like home.

If you have the time, Love has no pride and Do I ever cross you mind are definitely worth listening too as well.

Enjoy the music and the start of the week.

Got myself a present

In my post Strange habit you could already read how I collect ideas/links/etc. for my blogfriends. But they also return the favour I have to admit. Just before I went on holiday I got a mail from an excited Julie and she told me about an embroidery book written by Tilleke Schwarz. Immediately I went over to Tilleke's home and read all I could but because I went on holiday I had to postpone my order.

But now I own this wonderful book. For me it is great read and a feast of recognition despite the fact our artwork is totally different. So thank you Julie for thinking of me and thanks Tilleke for making the effort to write a book with lots of detailed pictures and funny texts.

(If anyone comes across the book Mark making by Tilleke please let me know since this book is no longer available)

Not to my liking

Some weeks ago I already told you that I wanted to do a helleristninger-project. First I made the two ladies and the sun, it looked just fine but I didn't really like the experience of embroidery on paper, wanted something more tactile. After I washed the folded quilt outside I got the idea of cutting out the helleristninger and embroider them on another piece of denim to get a diverse palet of blue. You can see how far I got before I discarded this idea too. Why? It has simply too much red.

So now I started another project again and now I have to keep working and see if this one be the way to travel. Keep your fingers crossed and if you have an idea that can help me forward, please let me know. Thanks.

Monday's music

Since I came across a fair number of feathers during my trip to Sweden I decided to start this week with a beautiful song called White feather.

Have a great week.

Doing the laundry

Doing the laundry is not my favorite job.

 Sometimes it is heavy work

but this time it gave me some awesome blue's.

Two ladies and the sun

As I already told you before it is time to play with helleristninger again. This time I embroidered a unique rockcarving on a piece of aquarel paper with red thread.

Besides holding my needle with thread I have been punching patterns in paper and colouring them with a pen. Since I like the result of this what if, I'd share it with you.

How are your creative journey's going?

In the collage above you see a flettehjul. Sorry I have no idea what it might be called in English. This flettehjul I bought last saturday on a historical day in my hometown. It is believed that it is a Viking piece of equipement since it was found in an old Norwegian church. With this piece one can make all kinds of cords. Now I only have to think of an way to use this pieces.

Anneli, do you have any idea what the english name might be?

Have a great day my friends.

Thanks Gunnar

Yesterday I have been picking black currants in my neighbours garden after some torrential rain. A few months ago he moved to a nursing home. He still owns the house and garden and therefore I'm allowed to pick the currants of which I made a lovely vinegar. So during the cold winter months I still can give our food some sunshine. Thank you Gunnar for your kindness and generosity.

If you look closely you can see a teeny, tiny snail moving from one  currant to another, look at the three small pictures on the left. The little bugger was so cute.

What have you been doing on the day of Sugar baby love.

Monday's music

This hat I found while travelling home from Sweden. Normally I can leave stuff alone when it is abandoned but this time I couldn't. Why? It reminded me of a group. Do you know which one?

I know they playback horrible but it makes me giggle anyway. Let's have a fun week!

My first project

You are probably sick and tired by now of me taking about my vacation in Sweden and therefore I write another post related to my holiday over there. In Vitlycke is a fantastic museum about rockcarvings and there I found this piece of artwork made by Ellen Dynebrink, who has as far as I know no site. In this piece she combined the two interests of her parents, woodwork and textiles.  I really, really loved the idea but unfortunately I don't have a loom.

This didn't stop me to make my own variation without a loom but with small pieces of driftwood to express my love for the beach in a different way.

Hope you are enjoying your weekend.

Strange habit

Never heard from anyone else that they had the same habit and therefore I titled this post Strange habit. When I'm at home and I see or hear something interesting I share it with people I know who are interested in that topic too. While on vacation and off-line I can't do that but that doesn't mean I didn't think of you guys, sorry girls.

Patterns and lots of them for Karen, more of them you can find at my library over here.

Helleristninger for Anneli, Julie and Lisa
More of them you can find here.

Viking sayings for Anneli and Julie.

Several handmade lamps for Judith.

And special rocks for Julie.

And for mrs. Hansen I had two boattickets which we won while entering the ferry, unfortunately I forgot to photograph them. So you see in some way some of you were with me on holiday. If you weren't, don't worry you just have to tell me what kinda stuff you are interested in and as soon as my eye catches something you will receive it.

Old tools

Some of you might know this but for those who don't know it, I have a weakness for old tools. So before we travelled I hoped to see a lot of them since Sweden is slojd-country. Unfortunately there weren't many that crossed my path but I don't discard these beautiful old pieces.

But these old spades down below are totally irresistable for my camera. They were standing in a corner of a old church. Maybe for shovelling snow in the winter.

What do you look for when you are on holiday?

Hiking in Fjällbacka

Start of the hike.

Standing under the big rocks that partially cover the passage.

Proof that I really got up there.

And since I love this picture of the narrow passage, one has to pass to get to the top, I add it as a piece of eye-candy. And yes my mind wasn't focused on matching clothes that day, :))

What have you been doing the last few weeks?

My library

Last year we went to an area with helleristninger.

This year we went to another part of Sweden with rockart.

Both times with three camera's.

A library of Swedish rockcarvings is hiding in my computer.

And therefore:
Thinking of doing another project with these gorgeous drawings.
