Afternoon blue delight

This morning I woke up with the sun in my face, unfortunately this only lasted for about 5 minutes. The sun was chased away by a danish monsoon which lasted the rest of the morning. Fortunately the sun returned for a whole afternoon, took all my jeans stuff outside and had a wonderful afternoon while working on the map. (previously called scarf)

It was definitely an afternoon with blue delight.

Hope you enjoyed this fabulous sunny time too.

Thank you

People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime.
When you figure out which one it is,
you will know what to do for each person.

When someone is in your life for a REASON,
it is usually to meet a need you have expressed.
They have come to assist you through a difficulty;
to provide you with guidance and support;
to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually.
They may seem like a godsend, and they are.
They are there for the reason you need them to be.

Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time,
this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end.
Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away.
Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand.
What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled; their work is done.
The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Some people come into your life for a SEASON,
because your turn has come to share, grow or learn.
They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh.
They may teach you something you have never done.
They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy.
Believe it. It is real. But only for a season.

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons;
things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation.
Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person,
and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life.

It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.

Another week gone by

This week has been one with a fair amount of sunshine which gave me the opportunity to make some  a lot of pictures outside, even took a nap in the hammock but today was one of rain, rain, rain and a little bit more rain. And since I want to make the most of my time I did a fair amount of chores around the house and some reading. Finished the Notebook by Nicholas Sparks in no time and started Drive by Daniel Pink. You might remember this post in which he talks about what motivates us and this book is the starting point of that Tedtalk. I like the way he writes and explains, it is an easy to read book and still it gives a lot to think about.

But ofcourse I have also doing some stitching although I haven't made as much progress as I would have liked to. Spent already a fair number of hours trying to pin the backing on the piece and somehow I can't get pinned the way I want to have it. Maybe after all these hours I should give up on the idea I have and try something different. This is not a definite decision yet but one in progress.

Another detailed picture for you on this rainy sunday evening. And how was your week?

A fantastic morning

This morning I decided to do things differently today. Yep, I took the bus to the big town on our peninsula. While on my way to the Wood Sculpture festival I met my tea-partner on the street and we decided to have a cup of tea first. After our chat I again walked up the festival and enjoyed myself  with looking around and making pictures.

(click on the picture to enlarge)

The guy in this picture definitely won me over with his sculpture, his shabby hat to hide his face and his bare feet. But it is a busy week this week in the big town because besides the festival there is also an international market with all kinds of stalls. My eyes wandered off to these beautiful notebooks in leather but decided against them because ...

There were several stalls with yummy stuff. One with Italian cheeses, ham and salami's, one with English marmelade, mustard, chutneys and more than yummy cheese but also a stall with delicious fruits and some vegetables. The result: I came home with and empty purse, lots of delicious food and a very big smile on my face.

I even liked the paperbag of the cherries.

Hope your day was just as delicious.

Monday's music

The song in the Monday's music-serie today is from a Danish band called Outlandish. The first time I heard it was at the trainingsfacility while Danny was training with his nunchako in the beat of the music and I liked it immediately.

So thank you Danny and to all of you: Have a gorgeous summer monday.

Yesterday I got a hold of my needle again and  made tons of progress. Just before I went to bed I made these snapshots, trying to capture the beauty of the clarifying blue's and the passionate red. Finally it feels like I'm on my way again. Lots of new thoughts, new roads to travel and adventures to look forward to.

Have a fabulous sunday.

Latest addition to the family

Last weekend, while being in the largest town on our peninsula, our little boy saw a handmade owl and decided he wanted to have a new addition to his bird family. And so as soon as we were home again I took my hook and started working.

It doesn't really look like an owl but he is happy with it nonetheless. And me? I loved the fact that an owl in all its wisdom took me back to the colors of Soul food and showed me the need to be patient.

Have a lovely tuesday with the wisdom of an owl.

Monday's music

The last few days have been cold and wet and while I was shopping in a nearby town I thought how wonderful it would be just to hear the warm, soft voice of John. It is therefore I serve you Sunshine on my shoulder from John Denver and hope you will get as much joy and warmth from it as I did.

Have a fabulous start of your week with all the sunshine you wish for.

Trying to find my mojo back

For some weeks now I can't seem to find my way with my needle. This makes me very restless and impatient. Luckily I have a blogfriend who is more than fantastic in holding her needle. She has a video in one of her posts about playing with cloth and since I had no better idea myself I gave it a try. Normally I have a story to tell, find the fabric and start working with the idea. During the process I feel free to make any change I want to but somehow I need to have this starting frame.

But this time I took Karen's instruction and just played around with my cloth and made a piece. The result you can see in the collage picture. The result looks ok for me but my restlessness and impatience stayed. I need to have a story which intriges me, keeps my mind busy, makes me think about the different aspects of the story while I'm creating my piece.

Conclusion: I'm not an embroiderist but a story-teller who likes to hold her needle.

Time to find something interesting to think about and to tell you in cloth.

Monday's music

The sun was slowly disappearing,
 the moon rising,
this song playing softly in my ear.
Nothing more, nothing less, another day gone by.

Fishing trip

About two months ago at a dinner party the decision was made to go on a fishing trip today because in June is the weather so much better than in april. Yes we are good-weather-fishermen and women. Unfortunately the good-weather-gods decided differently. It was everything but warm, the merely 14 degrees celsius and the fierce wind, which blew in from the sea, made it freezing cold. So all bundled up we took our fishing gear and went fishing anyway.

And after the picnic it was time to drive home and play with the pictures. The result is four different photographs in four different styles which is probably an violation of some rule but rules are there to be broken when one is learning to catch the light. Isn't this the best excuse?

More pictures you can find here.

Hope you enjoyed your sunday as well.

Just over a week ago I started for the first time my 365 days-project. This means that I promised myself to take every day a picture for a year. Normally one starts at the first of January but why keep that rule when one can also start in May! The result so far you can see here.

Now earlier this week I told you about my headache and it was this headache that inspired me to make my pictures in black and white. Black and white is more quiet and peaceful seen from my perspective. Later, when the headache had disappeared,  I remembered that I had taken B/W-pictures when I was 9 for a school-project. So today I took the old album down from the loft and photographed the old pictures, it was wonderful to see that some loves never disappear.

Enjoy your weekend while creating new memories.
