Mostly pink

Today I'm proudly present my newly filled stonebasket and somehow a number of these stones remind me of the embroidery work of this lady. Can you see it too?

Have a lovely day.

Inspiration for holding your needle

Today I want to show you some work of other embroiders. When you see their work you know why I have to embroider and try master the craftmenship they display.
The first person I want you to meet is Erin Endicott. Erin has the most beautiful pieces in the serie called Healing sutra. Currently Erin participates in an embroidery exhibition called Cutting Edge which is held in the Textile Artcenter in Brooklyn, New York. The picture below is a detailpicture of her work, if you would like to see more you just click here.

Another lady with beautiful application work is Janet Bolton. Her homepage you can find here.

    'Seascape', 200 x 170 mm.

The third lady of today is Jennifer Hunold. She did for a period an project called embroidery journalling. In the picture below you can see a part of that process, if you would like to know/to see more of her work click here. You can also visit the show Cutting Edge in New York.

Each lady with her own unique style and craftwomanship but they are holding their needle just as you and me.
Have a fantastic day.

The past week I have been knitting backgrounds with babywool from Norway.

The thin Viking wool feels soft and warm and is very easy to work with.

To write and interesting post about it is a more difficult problem.

Let's start a week filled with inspiration and hopefully some embroidery because I miss my needle.

Covered stones

My latest obsession is growing into a pile and I'm still in love with them.
Have a wonderful weekend.

In our local library I found a more than 40 year old book about helleristninger. The book is called Helleristninger i Danmark written by P.V. Glob

Now this is a perfect piece of the puzzle for me and a number of new paintings will be inspired by these precious drawings of long ago.

Would this one done with french knots not be perfect?

The lucky one

Something really wonderful happend. When I was at the busstop to get to town for my second eye-operation the mailman stopped and said:'I have a package for you. Do you want it delivered or do you want to have it now?' He showed me a large brown envelope from Austria, my answer:'Now please.' Because mail from Austria means mail from Anneli and as you can see I got the most beautiful and inspirational book I could wish for and some lovely stitchmarkers.

On top of that the most beautiful card with a lighthouse and all of that just for me. I felt very lucky holding and looking at this wonderful gift. Thank you mailman but most of all thank you Anneli for your generosity. You couldn't have timed it better!!!!

Have a fantastic day and who knows your mailman may stop by.

My Jewel

While I was absent the blogosphere just continued and so did the wonderful idea of Se'Lah of Necessary room. Since I did sign up a beautiful surprise came to my mailbox

Four beautiful cards with gorgeous pictures on them sent by Cottage on the corner.

This leaves me to say thank you Teresa for your generous Jewel.

Have a lovely day.

Time to celebrate and to look forward

Today I want to thank all of you for your kind mails and best wishes. My two eye-operations are done and slowly my blurry world becomes clear again. To celebrate this I decided to organize a christmas-swap.

What do you need to do?
  • You write a comment below, so I know you are in.
  • You make two christmastree-ornaments
  • You can join until 1th of November
  • In the first week of November I will ask you for your address
  • Later that week I will give you two addresses of the receivers of your ornaments
  • Not later than the 1th of December the ornaments have to start travelling to their destination

The pictures of today are from ornaments I got when I participated in a swap some years back. And since a party without music isn't a party I found a fun performance by Karen's favorite artist!!!!

Hope you have a lovely start of your week.

Today it is a special day. The last day for the Jewels to be sent out in the world. With more than 70 participants and over a week of give-aways this party is coming to an end. With my post of today I want to thank Se'Lah for organizing this event which is so filled with love.

Each heart is unique.
Lives within its own boundaries
Trying to find its own path.
But no heart lives alone

The textile painting you see in the picture is the last give-away and you can write your comment over at Necessary room if you want to enter.

Thank you Se'Lah for having such a big heart filled with love.

Have great weekend everybody.

A pink goodbye

This is the last regular post this week, yes I do know that it is only wednesday. But tomorrow is the big day. Most of you remember the event of last february and now it is time to be operated again on my right eye. They can't restore my eye-sight but they will try to optimize of what is left.

Now some less nerve wrecking news.

The result of another try in my process to learn to dye with avocado peels and two new crocheted stones with a small flower. So far so good.

On saturday there will be a surprise which was already planned some time ago and a chance for you to join a celebration.

Hope you have a lovely week with lots of sunshine, the most fantastic weekend and I will be back with some new stories somewhere next week.

Bird of love and hope

Some months ago I found some very old history books with all kinds of pictures in it. Took the books home and had some delightful afternoons gazing at the old craftmanship. Some of you might remember this painting which I made for Anneli and since that is one of my favorites I decided to make another one in the same style.

I just finished the embroidery and I still have to buy the background and knit a cover for it but I love my bird so much that I wanted to share it with you today. As you can see I only took part of the original drawing and made up my own circle with runes.

A detailpicture so you can really see my new, beautiful bird. The painting of Anneli  is made on wool, this one is made on linen with linen thread which gives it a different feeling. Hope you like my bird of love and hope.

Have a beautiful day.

The embroidery piece of today I made a long time ago or so it feels. It was made in february of 2009, which isn't that long ago. Just the other day I found it again in one of my drawers and felt like I should finish this little project. Since we had the most gorgeous weather in the weekend I took a photograph of this textile painting outside on our terrace.

Hope you had a fantastic weekend and are happy to start a new week.

Listening II

A small embroidery piece today in the series of Listening. Listening and realizing that my life isn't a highway but more of a country road, not a canal but a meandering river. My energy is divided but not without any focus, progress is made slowly but surely. Travelling through life with a need to experience friendship and listening, a need for learning and for creativity brought in the night but most of all a need to be.

Since it has been a while that I posted some music I linked this for you. Some company for you while you are slowly travelling home. Maybe you like to take the rocktrain which makes a stop here, if you want to travel  on a motorcycle your journey continues here but if you rather take the boat you can here roll over the river.

No matter how you prefer to travel I hope you will have a fabulous start of your weekend.

Covered stones

Somehow I like to crochet stones at the moment, so that is what I do.  I made a stone mouse and a stone fish and experimented with different yarns.

So what do you think about this little side road?

Have a fabulous day.

Butterfly wednesday

Have a fantastic day, the sun is shining again.
