Soul Food (part 71)

Today I want to show you three pieces of embroidery. The first picture shows a clock to remind me that time shouldn't be waisted. The song that goes with it is Tick tock people of the Vaughn brothers with beautiful lyrics of peace and understanding.

The second piece is a symbol to take everything out of life. Life has to offer so much, just have to see it and say:

Before I leave you I want to say thank you all for the wonderful, superduper, fantastic inspiring comments. It makes me so happy to see that you all stick around and watch Soul Food grow. There are only 6 blocks left but I'm taken it really slow now because I'm not ready to finish it, just yet. I want them to be filled with as much meaning and intention as I can find within myself. So I'm reading, writing and listening to music to find that little bit of extra.

Now I have to get to work, so I wish you a fantastic weekend with lots of love and creativity and I'll hope to see you on monday for a new episode of Soul Food.

Soul Food (part 70)

synchronicity

Today the symbols are about synchronicity and the twin soul experiences. For me these coincidences are related. Although I don't know how this energy works exactly it still captures my attention and fascinates each time around. The story of Patricia Joudry is a good example of it.

twin soul

Have a lovely day filled with the things that are important to you.

Soul Food (part 69)

Today's post is called hope because in hope lies tomorrow. When dawn charged away the deep dark night. A shower of rain will wash the pain away and the warmth of the sun is there to comfort you. Anything that is left will be cleared by a small breeze.

This ropeladder will help you and me to climb up again and see our light burning to keep us safe will sailing through life.

Have a lovely day.

Elizabeth
PS. This song is keeping me company today.

Soul Food (part 68)

This symbol I embroidered about two weeks ago and the feeling than was that being a woman has big influence on my being and the way I look at things. Yesterday another dimension was added to my awareness by reading an article in a dutch newspaper. The article was about the power of the money that women earn. If you are interested in this subject and want some food for thought click here or here or here. The articles are in english.

Well, I also found a piece of music for our daily inspiration.

Enjoy yourselfs.

Soul Food (part 67)

Last weekend we were invited by friends to come for dinner and I decided to make norwegian waffles. Normally I always make belgian waffles but I just found this recipe so I thought to give it a try. With the waffles there was some christmas marmelade with cinnamon and some dutch whipped cream. The difference between danish and dutch whipped cream is that in danish whipped cream is no sugar, in the dutch whipped cream there is. Everybody liked them but I still prefer the belgian waffles. The belgian waffles just taste richer.

So after a delicious meal, for which I say thank you, I decided that this spoon is a symbol for my cooking and baking endeavours.

The soup stories of Domestic Sensualists were the inspiration for this symbol because I love making soup as well.

Hope you had some wonderful food too this weekend. Have a fantastic day.

Soul Food (part 66)

This symbol is the web of life. The core is your childhood and we keep building our life on that center. If the center is made with good thick threads, the rest of the web can be made stabile and secure against the wind and rain. On the other hand if the center has it's faults, there is a lack of stability. The spider (you and me) has to keep repairing until the damage has no influence anymore on the strength and stability we need to live our life.

These words I embroidered as an expression of encouragement. Sometimes we are caught in a situation or a memory that haunts us. For me it means, don't run away, keep digging, keep trying until the solution finds me or the damage is repaired.

This is the last post of the week and I received some awesome comments. Thank you for that. It makes me really happy and grateful to read that you somehow benefit from my journey through Landanna.

Have a great weekend filled with lots of joy and miracles.

Today I'll show you three symbols of Soul Food for me they are about gratitude. The symbol is taken from a bracelet worn by someone special.

Through his work I learned valuable lessons.

And the last symbol is my hope for ever returning the favour.

Have a day filled with miracles.

Soul Food (part 64)

First symbol is about bottling things up, keeping the everyday hurts to oneself.

The second symbol is cutting my self loose, that is what Soul Food does for me. Slowly but surely I cut myself loose from habits that aren't supportive/helpful anymore. When I started Soul Food I thought it would be about learning new stitches and to improve my drawing skills. I even believed I could get it finished within two months. How wrong could I be? It's has become an organic process which already takes six months but I'm only 15 blocks away from finishing it. The best thing about it is you are still with me and I learned a lot, lot about me and were I want to go. So now it is back to stitching.

Have a fabulous day and do me a favour, enjoy yourself!!!

Soul Food (part 63)

Today's symbol is about community. Frederick Buechner once said:

''The life I touch for good or ill will touch another life, and that in turn another, until who knows where the trembling stops or in what far place my touch will be felt.''

Each day we touch another life, concious or unconcious, because we don't live in total isolation although it can feel sometimes like that. I touch your life because you read this post. Maybe you like what I write and re-use the idea in your own life adding your own energy too it, the energy continues. Maybe you dislike or even hate the idea and start travelling in the opposite direction. The energy keeps travelling until no one is adding anymore and the consequences of it will slowly fade away.

Here at Landanna I try to create a different world than the one who is created in the newspapers. Maybe it is a fantasy but one I love to explore. Thank you for being part of this community, thank you for reading this post.

Have a day filled with love.

Soul Food (part 62)

Nowadays I am a big believer in baby steps. These teeny, tiny steps done on a daily basis helped me to make Soul Food, to blog everyday and learn so many things. The cloth of Soul Food consists of 238 blocks. At first the cloth looked so big but I wanted it so bad that I jumped in without thinking further ahead. Now, some months later, my habit of watching television is totally gone, I learned to solve more than a few dozen problems with my embroidery needle, you still have to hear me rambling on about Soul Food but I am almost done. Just by making one stitch, one symbol, one baby step forward.

So this symbol is a reminder to take one step and one step more.

Have a fantastic day.

Today I have some different kind of communication symbols for you. The picture above is just a random conversation.

A place were two people meet and are aware of their special relationship and communication between them.

Some time ago I read this piece and knew that I had to incorporate it because there are already so many symbols of communication that this one couldn't be left behind. This symbol stands for communication between soulmates.

Have a great weekend with lots of fun and creativity.

Soul Food (part 60)

A cup of tea, it brings a lot of different memories. I just love tea, not coffee, just tea for me. The smell, with or without lemon, with or without sugar, herbal or black tea. There is a tea for every hour of the day. One thing is for sure...

A good cup of tea is a key of joy and contentment.

What kind of keys do you hold?

This is a lesson I want to master because there is this chatterbox in my mind that is constantly racing with all kinds of thoughts. That is why I made a reminder for myself.

Have a gorgeous october day.

This is my symbol for synchronicity, you know these strange coicidences that happen and no matter how hard you try you can't find an explanation for them. Well, here is what wikipedia has to say about it. And if you want to read some more, here is a blog that collect stories about synchronicity.

Have a day filled with wonders.

Soul Food (part 57 )

As a young girl the only wish I had was a place to hide, just had a strong desire to be invisible.

Than at the age of six an eyedoctor said: 'She doesn't really need any glasses but if you think it is a good idea, ok' Still remember that I was so mad at that doctor because I needed these glasses and I was gonna show him that. My glasses became my best friends. I could hide behind my big glasses and no one would see.

My eyes fully cooperated with my wish and stopped functioning normal. Recently I read at Julies that in some countries I'm almost legally blind. Oops!!! Nowadays I'm having a love/hate relationship with my hiding habits. But what would happen if I decided I'm not gonna hide any more?

Did you make a decision as a kid that had big consequences?

Have a wonderful day and be careful what you are wishing for.

This symbol I made to help me to focus because from time to time I waste too much time on less important things.

This symbol I made to honour all the relationships I had to say goodbye too.

A whole week has passed again, thank you all for stopping by and leaving you thoughts behind. Have a wonderful weekend in which your wishes are forfilled.

Today I want to share my symbol for willpower, special strenght we all have.

The symbol above is a symbol that reminds me of an experience in which my loyalty became a burden instead of a strenght.

May your day be filled with strenght.

Yesterday I told you about my miracles. Well today I want to share two other symbols who symbolize two other life changing events.

Since I don't understand them myself, I can't explain them to you. You just have to take my word to it and believe that it is something really special.

Have a lovely day filled with all of your dreams.

Soul Food (part 52)

This symbol is very dear to me. It stands for the mystery of miracles. During my life special events happend for which I cannot find an explanation but still they have a big influence on my life.

This symbol is for a number of these tiny reminders to look further, to be more aware and learn about exchanging energy.

Hope your day is filled with miracles that make you wonder.

Soul Food (part 51)

Today I want to show you some symbols that have their origines in the native american history. The first one is the open hand, a gesture you can see in every old western. The meaning: I approach you with an open heart, an open mind. This is something I always try to do, it is easier said than done so I give it a lot of training.

This 7 means that a decision made now can influence the next 7 generations. I think about this symbol a lot because of all the talk that is going on about our environment, our food, our home-planet earth and the decisions and changes we need to make and the habits we need to break.

Talking stick. A talking stick is used to make sure that everyone can have their say and the others will listen without interruption. Well, I had my say. Now it is your turn and write a comment.

Have a wonderful weekend, hopefully with some sunshine.

Soul Food (part 50)

A special symbol for a special person from long ago. But also for all the farmers who work so hard so we can buy our food in at the market.

This is also a symbol from long ago but still strong feelings arise when I think of it.

Have a wonderful day. If you happen to travel on memory-lane, enjoy yourself.
